How I began my Yoga journey...

I began practicing yoga when I was pregnant with my first child. Before that time, I was teaching elementary school and like many people, I felt I was too busy for Yoga. I just wanted to surf if I had free time! But of course, pregnancy made me slow down and my belly got so big that I didn’t feel comfortable surfing. The pregnancy forced me to tune in to what was going on Inside my body. I started reading books about yoga and began doing prenatal yoga DVDs. I learned how stretching helped my awkward body release tension and I learned how the breathing and mediation techniques helped me feel more peaceful and relax for deeper sleep. I was very receptive to the ancient teachings of yoga because I could feel that these practices were helping me to make my body a healthy home for my growing child.
